When a site won't load, the first question is whether it's actually down or whether something on your end is broken. This checker requests the page from our network (completely separate from your connection) and reports what it sees. If we get a healthy response, the site is up and the issue is probably local: your DNS, network, VPN, or a cached error page. If we get a server error or no response, it's down for us too, so it's not just you.

What does "UP" mean here?
UP means the site responded to our request with a normal status (anything below a 500 server error). A 4xx like 403 or 404 still counts as reachable. The server answered. DOWN means we got a server error or no response at all.
Why can I reach a site that shows as down?
Results can differ by location and time. A site may be reachable from your region but down from ours, or it may have just recovered. Run the check again in a few seconds to confirm.
