A single ping only tells you how a host performs from one place. Global ping measures latency from several regions at the same time, so you can see where your service feels fast and where it feels slow. Large gaps between regions usually point to where you need a CDN edge, a closer origin, or a better route.

Why is latency so different between regions?
Latency scales with distance and the quality of the route. Users near your servers see low numbers, while users on the far side of the world see much higher ones. A CDN or additional regions close that gap.
What counts as good latency?
Under 100ms feels instant for most web traffic, 100 to 300ms is acceptable, and above 300ms starts to feel sluggish. What matters most is that your key markets stay in the low range.
How do I improve slow regions?
Serve static assets from a CDN, add an origin or edge presence closer to the slow region, and check that your DNS and routing send users to the nearest location.
